Why it is dark?

We stand in our own shadow
and wonder why it is dark!
When we think there is a problem in life, we should realize that the problem actually lies within us. We may not be able to transform the situation, but we can transform ourselves and how we perceive our lives.When we look at things from the view point of our separate ego-self, we cast a shadow which obscures the light of our essential self and everything seems dark. If we turn and face the light, we rise above our limited self-interest and can see the whole picture.

Happiness is an experience

This is simple way to happiness.

The king's highway

A king once decided to construct a highway for the convenience of the people. After it was completed and before it was opened to the public, the king decided to have a contest. He invited everyone for the participation and he declared that the best traveller would be suitably rewarded.

On the day of the contest, many people took part in the contest. Some of them had fine chariots; some had fine clothing and fancy food to make the trip luxurious journey. Some wore their sturdiest shoes and ran along the highway on their feet to show their skill. All day they travelled the highway, and when they arrived at the end, most of them complained to the king about the large piles of rocks and debris that had been left almost blocking the road at one point which got in their way and hindered their travel.

At the end of the day, a lone traveller crossed the finish line wearily and walked to the king. He was tired and dirty, but he addressed the king with great respect and handled him the small box. He said, "I stopped along the way to clear a pile of rocks and debris that was blocking the road. This box was under it. Please have it returned to its rightful owner".

The king replied, "You are the rightful owner of this box and it contains gold." "Oh no", said the traveller, "It does not belong to me".

"Oh yes", said the king, "you have earned this gold, for you won my contest. He who travels the road best is he who makes the road better for those who will follow".

The best ability

The best ability one can possess is the ability to learn to laugh at himself. - Unknown
